The New Season

It's been a long summer and I can't wait for opening night's ring
ceremony. So much has happened that it seems like forever since we
won the NBA Championship.
As you know, I spent lots of time this summer with USA Basketball and
it was another great experience. Due to Team USA's schedule,
however, I didn't have a great deal of down time. With all of the
travel not only to Puerto Rico, but also to France for the NBA
pre-season game in Paris against the Memphis Grizzlies, this summer
has been a whirlwind of activity. The few moments that I did have I
tried to enjoy playing video games and spending time at home relaxing
with my wife Amy and our dogs. The dogs love the water as much as I
do, and we can't keep them out of the pool. Speaking of water, I must
tell you that I am quite proud of finally having conquered water
skiing and "beginning wakeboarding". That may not sound like a big
deal, but at my height and size... Well, you can imagine it is an
accomplishment for me.
As far as the team goes, it's been great meeting and learning to play
with the new guys. We have a very different team this year and it's
going to take some time for everyone to gel and learn the system.
With hard work and your support, I think we will come together very
well. We have huge targets on our back as the defending champions and
it's going to be a battle every night, but one we will gladly accept
with pride.
