San Antonio Spurs 88, Philadelphia 76ers 80

Philadelphia, PA Nov. 18 / Wire Reports --
Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs at long last came out of the Wachovia Center with a win.
Duncan scored 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Spurs beat the Philadelphia 76ers here for the first time in five
years, 88-80.
Manu Ginobili chipped in 17 points and nine assists and Rasho Nesterovic 16 and 11 rebounds for the Spurs, who had not won
in Philadelphia since a 94-91 triumph on November 22, 1999. The four-game road losing streak against the 76ers was their
longest against any NBA team away from San Antonio.
The Sixers scored a Wachovia Center-low six points in the opening quarter to fall behind by 14 points but chipped away,
climbing within 40-33 at the half before taking a 59-55 edge after three quarters.
But after Philadelphia forward Corliss Williamson opened the fourth quarter with a jump hook, the Spurs countered with a
12-1 run, taking the lead for good, 64-62, on a bank shot by Duncan with 8:57 left.
The Sixers got within 67-65 on a 3-pointer by rookie Andre Iguodala with 7:37 remaining, but Brent Barry hit back-to-back
jumpers and San Antonio led by at least four points thereafter.
Allen Iverson scored 24 points but made only 8-of-24 shots for the Sixers, who connected on just 35 percent (29-of-82) of
their attempts.
